I’ve just had a car accident. What do I do?

• First off, stop the car and take a deep breath
• If people are seriously injured or in danger call 000 for emergency services
• Once you’ve checked that everyone’s okay, exchange details with the other drivers.  You’re all going to need:
• Full name
• Phone number
• Address
• Registration number
• Licence number – grab a photo of the license if you can
• Insurance details if they have them
• If you’ve damaged someone else’s property (even it is isn’t their car – maybe a garage door) grab their details too
• Assess the damage and if you have your phone handy take photos of the car, any damage and the scene of the accident too if that may help in explaining what happened
• Finally, call your insurance company to coordinate getting a quote to fix the damage and some friendly advice on the next steps to take
